   Take the Cime de Caron cable car to the summit at 3,195m (technically the Bouchet lift reaches 3,230m - highest in Les 3 Vallées). Step onto the panoramic walkway inaugurated in 2022 - a glass-floored rotunda suspended over the void. Look around: you're seeing over 1,000 peaks across the French, Italian, and Swiss Alps. Mont Blanc is 60km away but looks close enough to touch. The Meije, Aiguilles d'Arves, and Chavière glacier spread before you. The mountain names are engraved on the glass railing. Pick three you'll ski someday.

   Taste Wine at Altitude Where Physics Changes

   Order a glass of Jacquère at Le 360 restaurant. At 3,200m, reduced air pressure affects your wine perception - aromas become more pronounced, and the crisp mineral character of alpine whites hits differently. This isn't marketing; it's physics. Your taste buds are working in an environment they weren't evolved for. Ask the staff which Savoie producer they source from. Budget €10-18 per glass. Compare to the same wine at sea level later - the difference is real.

   For dedicated enthusiasts, Le 360 offers sunrise experiences - wine tasting as the peaks turn pink, before the mountain opens to skiers. You'll need to book ahead through valthorens.com. The first cable car takes you up in darkness. By the time you're sipping, the sun is painting Mont Blanc gold while 1,000 other peaks catch the light one by one. This is a once-in-a-lifetime morning. If sunrise is sold out, the sunset version exists too - last light on the glaciers.

   Don't Miss the Last Cable Car

   Set an alarm for 4:15pm. The last Cime de Caron cable car descends at 4:30pm (check current schedule - it varies). There is no Plan B. If you miss it, you're either walking down in the dark (dangerous, don't) or begging for a seat on a snowcat. The staff have seen champagne-drunk tourists panic. Don't be one of them. Enjoy your wine, watch the clock, and descend with the sunset turning the peaks orange behind you. That's the proper ending.
