   The sign claims "18,380 ft" (5,602m). The REAL altitude is ~5,359m. Someone exaggerated. But who's counting when you can barely breathe? At the famous Khardung La summit sign, read the elevation, know the truth. It's STILL one of the highest roads on Earth. Just not THE highest. The lie makes a better story.

2. 2 Survive the 15-Minute Rule Adventure · Free

   Maximum 15-20 minutes at Khardung La summit before altitude sickness symptoms accelerate. People have DIED here. Set a timer. Take your photos. LEAVE. This is not a suggestion - it's survival. If you feel headache, nausea, confusion: descend IMMEDIATELY.

   Backup: Your driver knows the rule. Trust them when they say "time to go."

   The owner who has served hot chai at this impossible altitude for 20+ YEARS. Rain, snow, thin air - he's still there. At the chai shop at Khardung La summit, buy a chai, bring chocolate as thanks, and ask: "How long have you worked here?" His answer will humble you.
