   Walk the Free Cliff Edge Before You Fly Off It

   Tissot sponsors a 45-meter suspended bridge bolted directly into the rock face at 2,200m. It's free. It gives you the vertigo training you need before the zipline launches you at 84 km/h.

   A 45-meter metal walkway suspended on the cliff face — the watch brand Tissot paid for this entirely, so you walk it for free (after paying CHF 76 for your gondola from Grindelwald). The walkway extends beyond the cliff edge with 360° views of the Eiger, Wetterhorn, and Schreckhorn at the First summit station (2,200m). Look directly down: nothing. Look ahead: the Eiger's north face. Walk 5 minutes from the gondola exit following signs, arrive at 9:30am opening or after 4pm to avoid crowds.

   🔄 BACKUP: If Cliff Walk is closed due to wind or lightning (it's weather-dependent), go straight to the First Flyer. The vertigo will be unannounced.

   Commit to 84 km/h Face-First at the Eiger

   The First Flyer loads you onto an 800-meter cable, face-down, and sends you toward the Eiger at 84 km/h. The ride lasts 30 seconds. The story lasts forever.

   CHF 31 per person (2025 price) for a 30-second flight where you're suspended face-down, arms gripping the handle bar, and when they release the brake you understand immediately why 84 km/h feels different on a wire over a mountain valley than on a motorway. The Eiger fills your entire field of vision. You are aimed directly at it. Book online at jungfrau.ch at least one day ahead at the First Flyer launch platform — walk-ups sell out by noon in summer. Secure any glasses with a strap (provided), and do not look at the ground before launch — look at the Eiger.

   Find Your Hands Still Shaking at the Terrace Table

   The First restaurant sits 50 meters from the landing zone. This is the most efficient adrenaline-to-wine pipeline in the Alps. Your hands will shake. The Chasselas will help.

   Sit facing the Eiger at the First restaurant terrace (2,200m), 50m from the Flyer landing point. The same mountain you just flew toward at 84 km/h is now just... sitting there. Massive. Silent. Indifferent to your heart rate. Order Swiss wine by the glass — CHF 12-18, ask for the Chasselas or anything from Valais. Sit down before you think you're ready, give yourself 10 minutes before ordering — your palate is still in fight-or-flight. Notice how different the wine tastes than it would at sea level, and how the Eiger looks different now that you've been aimed at it face-first.
