Hotel Belvedere ruins - where Eiger climbing began

Johann Hauser built the Hotel Belvedere in 1907 specifically to accommodate climbers attempting the Eiger North Face. Every major expedition from 1935-1938 stayed here. The hotel closed in the 1980s and now stands in ruins, but you can still visit the site where climbing legends slept before their glory or their graves.
