Attend the Herrschäftler festival in Maienfeld (September). Buy a tasting pass — producers who never open their doors pour freely. Hunt for Completer and aged Pinot Noir from slopes Gantenbein made famous.
Walk through Maienfeld — literally Heidi's village (Johanna Spyri, 1881). The same south-facing slopes that inspired children's literature produce Switzerland's most serious Pinot Noir. Fiction meets terroir.
Hike through vineyards from Maienfeld to Jenins. The Föhn wind from Italy creates a microclimate warm enough for Pinot Noir at 600m. Rhine Valley views and vine rows feel more Burgundy than Switzerland.
