   The Wengen-Männlichen cable car has external balcony seats - open-air, front-row view of Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau as you ascend from 1,274m to 2,222m. For CHF 5 (on top of the CHF 63 return ticket), you get the Royal Ride - standing on the balcony with wind in your face and the triumvirate of peaks filling your vision. At the Wengen cable car station (Männlichenbahn), ask for "Royal Ride" or "balcony seat" when buying your ticket. It costs CHF 5 extra, booked on-site (not online). Board the cable car and step onto the external balcony. Face forward. As the car ascends, the Eiger North Face grows larger. Don't look down - look across at the Nordwand, the murder wall.

   🔄 BACKUP: If the Royal Ride is sold out, the regular cable car interior still has panoramic windows. Sit on the right side for Eiger views. The scenery is identical, just behind glass.

   From cable car station to summit viewpoint - Eiger/Mönch/Jungfrau panorama

   The Royal Walk is a 20-minute trail from the cable car station (2,222m) to the Männlichen summit (2,345m) - 120 meters of elevation gain. It's an easy walk with benches, accessible to most fitness levels. At the summit, you get 360-degree views: Eiger/Mönch/Jungfrau to the south, Wetterhorn to the east, Grindelwald valley below. Exit the Männlichen cable car mountain station and follow the marked "Royal Walk" path uphill. Take your time - stop at benches, breathe the thin air. At 2,345m, locate the summit viewpoint sign with peak names. Count the peaks: Eiger (left), Mönch (center), Jungfrau (right). Then turn around - see the valley? That's where you came from.

   🔄 BACKUP: If weather blocks summit views, the cable car station restaurant has panoramic windows and serves Swiss wine. Order Chasselas, sit by the window, and wait for clouds to part - mountain weather changes fast.

   Hike the Panorama Trail to Kleine Scheidegg - 3 Miles, Zero Stress

   The Panorama Trail is a 3-mile (5 km), mostly downhill walk from Männlichen to Kleine Scheidegg. It's rated "easy" - minimal elevation change, wide trail, suitable for families. But the views are world-class: Eiger North Face directly in your sight line the entire way. You'll walk toward the Nordwand - the murder wall - getting closer with every step. Start at Männlichen summit (2,345m) and follow signs for "Panorama Weg" or "Kleine Scheidegg" (2,061m). Follow the wide, well-marked trail toward Kleine Scheidegg. Walk slowly - every 10 meters, the Eiger perspective shifts. Stop frequently for photos. At Kleine Scheidegg, you're at the base of the face where climbers start their attempts.

   🔄 BACKUP: If weather turns bad (common in Alps), the trail is still walkable in light rain - it's well-maintained. If visibility drops to zero, wait at Männlichen station restaurant for 30 minutes - clouds often pass quickly. Or take the cable car back to Wengen and try another day.

   Toast at Kleine Scheidegg - Fendant with Nordwand View

   You walked to the Eiger's base. Now drink at its feet.

   You just walked from Männlichen to Kleine Scheidegg - 3 miles with the Eiger North Face in view the entire way. Now you're at the base of the Nordwand. Order a glass of Fendant (Swiss Chasselas from Valais) - crisp, mineral, high acidity - what Swiss alpinists have been drinking since the golden age. Enter Restaurant Eigernordwand at Kleine Scheidegg (2,070m, newly renovated, 140 à la carte seats, panoramic windows facing the murder wall). Request a window seat facing the Eiger North Face. Order "Fendant from Valais" or any Swiss Chasselas. When it arrives, raise your glass to the 64 climbers who died on that wall, the 1938 first ascent team, and yourself for walking the Panorama Trail. You earned it.

   🔄 BACKUP: If Eigernordwand is full, the self-service restaurant next door also has Eiger views and Swiss wine. Lower cost, same scenery, same satisfaction.
