Le Bubble Bar in Courchevel 1650 (Moriond village, NOT the fancy 1850) opened in 1948—the same year Courchevel's first ski lift started running. Every ski instructor, lift operator, and chalet worker since then has passed through this room. Look at the walls. Feel the floor worn smooth by ski boots. This is where Courchevel happens after the tourists go to bed. Arrive after 10pm for the real atmosphere.

   Order the toffee vodka shot. Yes, it's sweet. Yes, it's a cliché. Yes, every seasonaire has done it. That's the point. When you're 70 and telling someone about the time you worked a winter in Courchevel, you'll mention the toffee vodka at Bubble Bar. It costs €5-8. It tastes like regret and glory. One is mandatory. Two is acceptable. Three is where stories start getting unreliable.

   Look for someone who looks like they've been coming here for decades. They exist—especially earlier in the evening. Approach respectfully, offer to buy a round, and ask: "What was Courchevel like when you first came?" Let them talk. They'll tell you about the days before Russian money, before Michelin stars, before €50M chalets. This is oral history, one drink at a time. Their stories are the real Courchevel.
