When it reopened in 2017, regulars flew from Stockholm just to check if the soul survived. Look for the wooden panels behind the bar - they're original 1890s timber that the renovators saved after a fight with the architects. Touch them.    Between 6-8pm, Chambre Neuf transforms. Order a bottle of local Savoyard wine (€35-45 for Chignin-Bergeron or Mondeuse) and stake out a spot near the live music. The Swedish drinking songs start around 7pm - you don't need to know the words. The Scandinavians will teach you. Warning: this is not subtle après-ski. This is 130 years of Swedish ski culture compressed into a wooden room at the base of Mont Blanc. You'll leave with new friends who insist you visit them in Göteborg.
