Hunt the founding memorial plaque near Place de Caron in town center — it should reference 1972, SETAM (the lift company), or the first restaurant Le Gloulou commemorating the audacity of those families who built a city in the sky. Ask at tourist office: 'Where's the 1972 founding plaque?'

   You're about to drink wine at 3,200 meters — Europe's highest wine bar — surrounded by 360° views of 1,000+ Alpine peaks. Take the Cime Caron cable car to the summit where the building opened January 27, 2025 (BRAND NEW). The wine bar stocks 200+ French and international wines. At this height, you're literally above most Alpine summits, and when you hold a glass of Chignin-Bergeron (Savoie's Roussanne) here, you can SEE the valleys where it was grown. Order the glass, ask the sommelier: 'Can you point to where this grape was grown?' On clear days, you can see the distant Rhône Valley.

The Écrins massif, Mont Blanc, Italian border mountains all turning gold at once while you're positioned on the rooftop terrace (accessible even without ordering at wine bar). Check sunset time (varies December to April), arrive 20 minutes early to secure a rooftop spot, watch the light move across the peaks. This is the vista reveal moment where every wine region, every valley, every ridge becomes a single panorama, with the orientation table identifying major summits.

   🔄 BACKUP: If clouds obscure the view, the 360° building interior has floor-to-ceiling windows — you'll still see the scale of the Alps without the alpenglow.
