   From Piazza del Duomo, look up. The terraces above are lemon groves - some 800 years old. Walk up Via Genova or Via Lorenzo d'Amalfi to reach them. Many groves offer free entry to browse (and pressure to buy). The view back down to the cathedral is excellent.

   Hold a Sfusato Amalfitano

   The PDO-protected giant lemon unique to this coast.

   At any grove or shop, ask to hold a sfusato amalfitano lemon. It should be larger than your hand - some are 300+ grams. The name means "spindle-shaped." This variety has been grown here since the 11th century. It's PDO-protected like Champagne - cannot be called sfusato amalfitano unless grown here.

   Taste Limoncello at the Source

   Enter a grove with production facility (signs say "Degustazione" or "Limoncello"). Taste their limoncello (€5-10 for flight). Ask: "È fatto con sfusato amalfitano?" The answer should be yes. Compare to supermarket limoncello - the real thing has intense lemon oil aroma, less sugar.

   Find Pasticceria Pansa (Piazza del Duomo, since 1830) or Pasticceria Savoia. Order delizia al limone - a sponge cake with lemon cream invented on this coast. Pair it with a glass of chilled limoncello. The pairing was designed to be consumed together.

   Buy Direct and Check the IGP

   Before buying, check for "Limoncello di Amalfi IGP" or "Limoncello della Costa d'Amalfi IGP" on the label. This guarantees authentic origin. Buy from a grove, not a tourist shop - prices are 40-50% lower. A 500ml bottle should cost €8-15, not €25.
