Begin at the Deutsches Weintor (German Wine Gate) in Schweigen-Rechtenbach. This 1936 arch marks the southern start of the 85km route. Take a photo - you can return here for the Friedrich Becker experience.

Neustadt is roughly the midpoint and has the highest concentration of wine bars and producers. Walk the Altstadt (old town) and find a Vinothek (wine shop with tasting). Sample at least 3 different Spätburgunders.
