   Find the Chambertin Grand Cru Cross

   A stone cross marks the heart of the 13-hectare Grand Cru.

   From the village center, walk south on Route des Grands Crus for ~1.5km. The stone cross stands at the intersection of Chambertin and Chambertin-Clos de Bèze. It's the most photographed spot in Gevrey - you'll recognize it from every Burgundy book cover. Best light: early morning.

   Taste at Domaine Trapet

   One of the most respected biodynamic producers in Gevrey.

   Book ahead at domaine-trapet.com - tastings ~€30-50. The cellar is in the village center. Jean-Louis Trapet farms entirely biodynamically and makes sublime Chambertin. Ask to taste the village-level Gevrey-Chambertin first, then Chambertin Grand Cru - the quality leap will make you understand classification.

   Walk the Clos Saint-Jacques

   A Premier Cru so good it was almost classified Grand Cru.

   Walk north from the village toward the Combe de Lavaux. The Clos Saint-Jacques vineyard is on your right, just below the treeline. This steep slope produces wine that often rivals Grand Crus in blind tastings. Find the small stone wall marking the boundary.
