   Meet The Don

   Guides dress as 'The Don' - black Portuguese student cape + Spanish wide-brimmed hat (logo since 1928).

   Book any tour (from €22). Your guide will be dressed as The Don. Ask: 'Why the cape and hat?' The cape is from Portuguese university tradition; the hat is Spanish. Designer George Massiot Brown combined them in 1928 for the famous silhouette logo. Take a photo with your Don - they're trained to pose.

   Walk the 1790 Cellars

   history $

   The cellars date to 1790 - older than the company itself. Find the oldest barrels.

   During the tour, the guide will take you through cellars aging Port since the 18th century. Ask: 'Where are the oldest barrels?' Some date to the 1800s. The cellars maintain constant temperature and humidity naturally - the thick stone walls are the original climate control. Note the 'angel's share' evaporation marks.

   Taste White, Ruby, and Tawny

   The €22 Classic Tour includes 3 tastings: White Port, Ruby, and Tawny. White is served chilled with tonic (Porto Tonico cocktail). Ruby is young and fruity. Tawny is aged and nutty. Ask your Don: 'Which would you drink at home?' Their personal preference reveals insider taste.

   Book the 'Old Tawnies Tour' (€160, reservation required 48hrs ahead). You'll taste 10, 20, 30, and 40-Year Tawnies consecutively. This is a masterclass in how Port evolves over decades. The 40-Year tastes completely different from the 10 - four decades of barrel aging creates magic. Worth it for enthusiasts.
