   Cálem combines Port tasting with live fado - hauntingly melancholic Portuguese folk music.

   Book Cálem's 'Port & Fado' experience (€30-45, check times at calem.pt). The show is in the cellar - Port aged around you as singers perform saudade (Portuguese longing). Ask your server: 'What's the best fado song about wine?' Fado is UNESCO Intangible Heritage. Tissues optional.

   Fonseca is known for single-vintage Ports - wines from one exceptional year, aged 20-50 years.

   At Fonseca, book a vintage tasting (€50-80). Unlike Tawny (blended across years), Vintage Port is one great year in a bottle. Ask: 'Which vintage is drinking best right now?' Fonseca's 1970, 1985, and 1994 are legendary. This is for the enthusiast ready to taste Port at its peak.

   Watch the Rabelos at Sunset

   End on the waterfront with a glass of 10-Year, watching the traditional rabelo boats.

   Find a terrace table on the Gaia waterfront (Espaco Porto Cruz or any café). Order a glass of 10-Year Tawny (€6-10). Watch the rabelo boats on the river - they once carried Port barrels from the Douro valley. The Porto skyline across the water glows at sunset.
