The Story

Vugava grows almost exclusively on Vis, Croatia's most remote inhabited island. The grape makes powerful, aromatic whites with tropical fruit and honey. During Yugoslav times, Vis was a military zone—which preserved both the island and its ancient vines.

Insider Story

Vis was closed to tourists until 1989—preserving old vines.

Vugava is genetically distinct from anything else.

The island's isolation created a time capsule of ancient viticulture.
