History

Cistercian monks cultivated these vineyards from the 11th century. In 1879, Puligny and Chassagne villages hyphenated "Montrachet" to their names, honoring the legendary Grand Cru. Meursault's name dates to the Gallo-Roman period when Romans established fortified camps here.
