History

Name means "mountain of goats." Site of August 4, 1870 battle where Prussians defeated General Abel Douay's army. Trimbach (since 1626) obtained Convent of Ribeauvillé lease 2008 on condition they credit village and Grand Cru - first Geisberg released from 2009 vintage. Previously this parcel went into famous Frédéric Émile blend. 12th-generation Pierre and nephew Julien now lead; certified organic 2023.
