Middle Ages through Revolution: Basel and Strasbourg bishoprics, abbeys owned parcels. 1728: City of Lucerne, Switzerland issued certificate authorizing privileged market placement, praising bouquet and power. Frankfurt followed next century. Municipal recognition 1932 - 50 years before Grand Cru. Humbrecht family (Zind-Humbrecht) owned Goldert for generations; 0.9ha today.
