History

Romans called these "wines of Vienne." Legend: Knight Gaspard de Stérimberg returned wounded from 1224 Albigensian Crusade, built hermit refuge on hill. Chapel of Saint Christopher built atop; wines became "St Christopher's Hill wines." Hermitage name from ermite (hermit in French).
