History

Nearly extinct by 1970s - only 20 hectares remained. Joël Gigou single-handedly saved appellation, replanting abandoned slopes and proving quality potential. Food critic Curnonsky (1872-1956) famously declared Jasnières "greatest white wine of France, three times per century" - meaning only exceptional vintages show its brilliance. Domaine de Bellivière and Eric Nicolas continue revival.
