Region profile

History

Greeks planted vines around 570 BC at nearby Aleria. Under Genoese rule (1284-1768), Patrimonio supplied Genoa with wine. In 1968, became Corsica's first AOC - recognition of superior terroir. The Arena family (Domaine Antoine Arena) pioneered quality viticulture in the 1970s, converting to organic/biodynamic and proving Patrimonio could rival mainland French wines.
