History
Medieval seat of Lordship of Ribeaupierre Family who built three fortified castles (Haut-Ribeaupierre, Girsberg, St. Ulrich) 11th-14th centuries. Village walls constructed 14th century. Trimbach family established here, crafting wines from distinguished Grand Crus under gaze of ancient castles. Became epicenter of quality Alsace Riesling revolution.
