History

Balagne was the "granary of Genoa" during 500 years of rule. Vineyards share hillsides with ancient olive groves. The fortified citadel of Calvi, built by Genoese in 13th century, overlooks the vineyards. Some claim Christopher Columbus was born here (disputed). AOC Vin de Corse-Calvi established 1976.
