History

Allobroges tribe cultivated Vitis allobrogica before Roman conquest - Romans praised its pitch-like aromas. Savoie was part of Italy until 1860 Treaty of Turin. AOC created 1973. The Abymes and Apremont crus grow on limestone scree from the catastrophic Mont Granier landslide of November 24, 1248, which killed 5,000 people and buried 16 villages.
