History

Moscato di Scanzo grape indigenous to Scanzorosciate hills for centuries. Associazione Produttori Moscato di Scanzo formed 1982 to protect the tradition. Consorzio di Tutela founded December 1993. April 17, 2002: received DOC status as "Moscato di Scanzo." February 2009: elevated to DOCG by Minister of Agriculture consultation with National Wine Committee - became Lombardy's 5th DOCG and Italy's smallest by area. 20 artisanal producers continue centuries-old tradition in Bergamo hills.
