Wine trails

11 stops · 1 week Almaty Wine Route The Tien Shan foothills near Almaty are home to wild Vitis vinifera sylvestris - the ancestor of every wine grape on Earth. This 'fruit corridor' also gave us apples (the city name means 'Father of Apples'). New boutique wineries are reclaiming this heritage with increasingly impressive results.
