The Inle Lake Wine Trail
$3.40 Tastings at One of Two Wineries in Myanmar
Bert Morsbach, a German entrepreneur, tested 100 grape varieties in the hills above Inle Lake. Only 5 survived. Now Red Mountain produces 100,000 bottles annually - half of Myanmar's entire wine output. The other half comes from Aythaya. That is it. Two wineries. One country. The tasting costs $3.40 for four glasses. You are quite literally visiting half of Myanmar's wine industry.

Plan the trip
Insider tip. Start with a morning boat ride through Inle Lake floating villages - fishermen balancing on one leg while rowing with the other. Save the winery for sunset. The timing works perfectly.
