Mistakes to avoid

  • Don't attempt Tiger Cave in the afternoon heat - you will suffer
  • Don't miss last boat from Railay (18:00) unless you have accommodation
  • Don't underestimate Railay viewpoint difficulty - it's a real scramble
  • Don't feed the monkeys at Tiger Cave - they become aggressive
  • Don't wear flip flops for the viewpoint hike - proper shoes essential

Worth stopping for

  • Railay viewpoint: Sunset facing west. Bring headlamp for descent in dark.
  • Railay Beach: Sunrise from East Railay, sunset from West Railay. Karsts frame everything.
  • Tiger Cave: Photo from the top with Buddha statue and 360° views. Dawn light is best.
  • Phra Nang Cave Beach: Unique penis shrine makes for interesting photos (yes, really)
