Diyarbakır sits atop Mesopotamia's ancient wine cradle (9500–5000 BCE) — its signature Boğazkere grape produces deeply tannic reds from thick-skinned berries. Region inherits 11,000 years of winemaking from Hittite, Assyrian, and Roman epochs.
