Domaine Huet

Why go

One grape, four finished styles. The estate states that the Vouvray planting is a single variety, Chenin, and its range runs from pétillant through sec and demi-sec to moelleux, drawn from the same three parcels — Le Haut-Lieu on deep brown clay, Clos du Bourg on thin clay and limestone over tuffeau, Le Mont on stony ground and green clay. The most concentrated bottling, Cuvée Constance, comes only from exceptional vintages.

What to expect

Tastings run by appointment only; the estate states that on its own contact panel. Published opening hours are Tuesday to Saturday, 09:00 to 12:00 and 14:00 to 18:00, with the domaine closed on Sundays and public holidays. For its open-house days the published programme is a guided visit of the cellars plus a presentation of the newest vintage, held in the estate's tasting space at Vouvray.

When to go

May is the open month. The estate's open-house days run 14, 15 and 16 May 2026, 10:00 to 19:00, with a guided cellar visit and a presentation of the 2025 vintage — the wine bottled that April. Outside those dates the domaine keeps office hours with appointment-only tastings, closed Sundays and public holidays. It also announced an exceptional closure on Monday 13 July 2026.

Getting there

The estate places itself at Vouvray, a few minutes from Tours, and publishes its position as 0 degrees 48 minutes 30 seconds east, 47 degrees 24 minutes 49 seconds north. The French business register lists the same head office, at 11 rue de la Croix Buisée. Arrive by car and allow for village streets: the office, the tasting space and the tuffeau cellars all sit in Vouvray itself, below the plateau where Le Haut-Lieu is planted.

About Domaine Huet

Domaine Huet is a Chenin Blanc estate at 11 rue de la Croix Buisée in Vouvray, which the domaine places a few minutes from Tours. The estate states it was founded in 1928 by Victor Huet and his son Gaston, and today farms thirty hectares of Chenin planted on three parcels: Le Haut-Lieu, Le Mont and Clos du Bourg, inside the Vouvray appellation of the Loire Valley.

History

The Huet family arrived in 1928. On a visit to Vouvray that year they took to a property then holding five hectares of vines; they bought it the same year, and Le Haut-Lieu became the estate's historic parcel. Clos du Bourg followed in 1953, and Le Mont entered the estate's history in 1957. Gaston Huet, who founded the domaine with his father Victor, was also mayor of Vouvray from 1947 to 1989.

Terroir

Three parcels, three soils, one grape. Le Haut-Lieu sits on the Vouvray plateau across fifteen hectares of very deep brown clay. Clos du Bourg is six hectares above the church of Vouvray, ringed by an old stone wall the estate dates to the ninth century, its thin clay-and-limestone soil resting on tuffeau. Le Mont is stony ground and green clay on the first slope, facing south directly above the tuffeau cellars.

What insiders know

Two things the estate publishes that listings tend to miss. Payment in its online shop is down for a technical reason, and the domaine asks buyers to send the order by email to contact@domainehuet.com instead. And 2026 is an anniversary year here: the estate's own notice marks ninety years of Vouvray's recognition as an appellation, with a growers' village in the streets on 11 July and a banquet that evening at the Château de Valmer, on reservation.

Common questions

Can you visit Domaine Huet?

Yes, but tasting is by appointment only — the estate states that on its own contact panel. Published opening hours are Tuesday to Saturday, 09:00 to 12:00 and 14:00 to 18:00, closed Sundays and public holidays. Arrange the appointment on +33 2 47 52 78 87 or at contact@domainehuet.com.

What does a tasting cost?

The estate does not publish a tasting price, a visit menu or a rate card anywhere on its site, and no online booking calendar exists. Settle the format and the cost when you telephone or email for the appointment.

When is the estate open to everyone?

On its open-house days, which in 2026 run 14, 15 and 16 May, 10:00 to 19:00, with a guided visit of the cellars and a presentation of the 2025 vintage. On any other date the visit is arranged individually.

Is the estate certified organic?

Yes. France's organic register lists the company with wine grapes and finished wine in the AB state for the 2026 control year, certified by Ecocert France under the control number FR-BIO-01, with a first engagement dated 15 March 1995. The domaine also appears on Biodyvin's published member list.

Can you buy direct?

Not through the website at present: payment in the online shop is unavailable for a technical reason, and the estate asks customers to email the order and wait to be contacted. A long directory of stockists across France and abroad is published on the same site.
