Market Square is a wine venue in Helsinki, Finland.
The Tsarina's Stone obelisk (1835) marks Empress Alexandra's 1833 visit β erected when Finland was a Russian Grand Duchy and didn't exist as a nation. The Presidential Palace behind it was the Governor General's residence. Walk 200 meters to Havis Amanda (1908), the nude bronze fountain whose unveiling scandalized Helsinki so badly that students adopted her as their mascot. Every May Day, she gets a student cap.
