    Sybaris Archaeological Site

Sybaris was so famously wealthy and pleasure-loving that "sybarite" still means luxury seeker. The city's wine cellars were legendarily stocked, and citizens were said to have invented heated baths and the chamber pot. Destroyed by neighboring Croton in 510 BC, the ruins are now partly underwater.
