   Hillary and Tenzing did it. EVERY expedition since 1953 does it. Champagne at EBC isn't a cliché - it's a 70-year tradition. At Everest Base Camp marker stone (5,364m), carry a small bottle (weight matters!), pop it at the marker stone. The thin air makes it hit HARDER. This is where legends began.

   Backup: Khukri Rum from Gorak Shep teahouse is the local alternative - warms you up fast.

2. 2 Read the Prayer Flags of the Returned History · Free

   Each flag was placed by someone who MADE IT BACK. Not everyone does. The Khumbu Icefall above you claims lives every year. Among the prayer flag installations around base camp, walk slowly, read any names. These aren't decorations - they're prayers for safe return. Some were placed by hands that didn't.

   Backup: Gorak Shep memorial stones have climber dedications with full stories.

3. 3 Climb Higher Than Base Camp Adventure · Free · Optional

   The summit of Everest visible from here - you can't see it from base camp. This is THE view. At Kala Patthar (5,545m) - 1-2 hour hike FROM base camp - start at first light. Bring your bottle. Toast the summit from where you can actually SEE it. 5,545m. Few humans have stood here.

   Backup: Gorak Shep sunrise works if altitude symptoms hit - still 5,164m, still incredible.
