"Where Winemaking Begins"

Bodegas Kohlberg Tour

Tour the winery that put Bolivian wine on the map. Franz Kuhlmann, a German immigrant, founded Kohlberg in 1963. Now his descendants make wine that wins international medals from grapes grown where conventional wisdom says grapes cannot grow. The quote above their cellar door says it all: "Winemaking in the rest of the world ends where we begin." At 1,900 meters, they are just getting started.
