Altitude Tasting Challenge

Taste wines from three different altitude bands in one session. Start with grapes from 1,600 meters - relatively "low" for Bolivia. Move to 2,200 meters where UV intensity increases dramatically. Finish with wines from nearly 3,000 meters - among the highest vineyards on Earth. Notice how the same grape variety tastes completely different as altitude increases. This is terroir in vertical form.

Insider Tips

  • Campos de Solana has vineyards at multiple altitudes - best for this

  • The UV difference is measurable - ask about brix levels by altitude

  • High altitude = thicker skins = more tannin and color

  • Bring water - tasting at altitude dehydrates faster
