Muru Wine Bar

Muru Wine Bar is the glass-by-glass door to one of Helsinki's wine restaurants. Star Wine List gave it Finland's 2025 Gold Star for the best by-the-glass list. The house opens a wide choice of wines by the glass every day and puts its list at nearly 800 wines. The restaurant behind it, Ravintola Muru, has held Wine Spectator's Best of Award of Excellence since 2017.

Wine comes first here, with food from the restaurant's kitchen alongside. The Wednesday blind set brings three unnamed wines to taste and guess, orderable all evening. On Saturday afternoons a sommelier leads a themed tasting of about an hour to an hour and a half, in Finnish or English; autumn 2026 themes include wine ageing, Vega Sicilia and La Spinetta. A private room by the bar seats eight.

Go Wednesday to Saturday, from 16:30 until 23:00; the bar does not open Sunday to Tuesday. Wednesday is blind-tasting night. On Thursdays the sommeliers pour a champagne from the cellar that is rarely sold by the glass, usually announced on Instagram (@murunviinibaari) the same day and poured while it lasts. Saturday tastings start at 14:30. The house posts a Christmas break from 23 December to 6 January.

Wine bar hours: Wednesday to Saturday, 16:30–23:00. The Wednesday blind set costs €15 a person for three wines and can be ordered all evening. Saturday tastings are sold in advance in Muru's online shop: the autumn 2026 dates cost €39 to €79, and some sell out. A private room by the bar seats eight. Bookings: varaukset@murudining.fi. Muru Wine Bar is at Lönnrotinkatu 14 in Kamppi, central Helsinki, on the same corner block as Ravintola Muru at Fredrikinkatu 41. Kamppi metro station is under 500 metres away in a straight line, to the north-west; from the station, walk south-east to the corner of Fredrikinkatu and Lönnrotinkatu.

It is a stop on The New Wave trail in Helsinki.

Ravintola Muru opened on Fredrikinkatu in 2010, and by April 2012 Yle reported that weekend tables could be booked at the earliest for late July. Wine Spectator has given its list the Best of Award of Excellence since 2017. In January 2026 Time Out wrote that the restaurant "has long had its own wine bar". When a June 2024 law change let shops sell wines of up to 8 per cent, Muru opened a shop with the bar.

The house's cellar list tells guests to ask the sommeliers for the 'Black Book' of cellar specialities, and its cellar index runs to Domaine de la Romanée-Conti and Armand Rousseau. The bar and the restaurant are two doors of one house, 28 metres apart on the same corner, with separate hours: the restaurant Tuesday to Saturday, the bar Wednesday to Saturday.
