Bar Petiit

Bar Petiit is a small wine bar in Puu-Vallila, 20 minutes by tram from downtown Helsinki, built around the glass. The list leans to natural and biodynamic organic wines, around ten are poured by the glass, and the bottles on offer hang on the wall instead of a printed list. A corner door with a low-key entrance leads into a low-lit room of bare brick, fairy lights and a wood-panelled bar, with a second room to the left. There is no wine list as such: the available bottles hang on the wall, and around ten wines are open by the glass. Cocktails and Finnish ales on tap are poured too, and a 2024 guide lists snacks, books and board games.

Bar Petiit opens every evening at 17:00 and closes at midnight Monday to Thursday, at 01:00 on Friday and Saturday and at 23:00 on Sunday, the bar's Instagram says. Nothing can be booked in advance and the room is compact, so arriving early is the surest way to a seat. Later on, local DJs sometimes set the music. Hours change; check @petiitbar before a late trip.

Walk-in only: the bar takes no reservations and opens daily from 17:00. There is no food menu of its own; a 2024 bar guide lists snacks, and the restaurant Plein across the street serves dinner. Around ten wines are open by the glass, alongside cocktails and Finnish ales on tap. No price list is published; the same guide called prices typical for Helsinki. Bar Petiit is at Suvannontie 17, 00510 Helsinki, in Puu-Vallila, the wooden-house quarter between Mäkelänkatu and Teollisuuskatu. Trams 1 and 7 stop at Vallilan kirjasto on Mäkelänkatu, about 200 metres away. Mäkelänkatu is being renovated until autumn 2027: trams came back on 31 August 2026 after a summer break, and crossings and the way into stops can shift while digging continues. Before Bar Petiit, maps listed the wine bar at Suvannontie 17 as Viinibaari Klein, in 2021 and 2022. The company now registered at the address, Tiit Ravintolat Oy, dates from October 2022, and by March 2024 Decanter was writing about Bar Petiit, naming Henri Bäckman as owner and Julius Saari as co-curator. Saari has chaired the company's board since October 2025.

The evening here runs across one street. Time Out's tip for diners at Plein, which topped its 2026 Helsinki restaurant list, is to head straight across to Petiit after dinner, and its 2025 coolest-neighbourhoods list, with Vallila ninth, sends readers to Bar Petiit for natural wine. The European Bar Guide inscribed the bar in 2024 with a rating of 8.5 out of 10.
