Pommery

In 1856 Alexandre-Louis Pommery became Narcisse Greno's partner, and in 1858 the firm became Pommery & Greno. Louise Pommery, widowed that year, went on to lead the house, which tells its 1874 as the first brut. Its 120 chalk pits on UNESCO-listed Saint-Nicaise Hill were fitted out as cellars 30 metres down a 116-step staircase; contemporary art has filled them every year since 2002.
